About the CMF
The Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to addressing problems and issues pertaining to mesothelioma in Canada. Our aim is to initiate and foster a network for patients with mesothelioma and their families. A key component of these efforts will be to establish an online community for patients to discuss their experience with others, and a forum for families to support each other through the difficult time following the diagnosis.
In addition to a forum for families and patients, the Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation is working to build a community for health professionals in Canada to share their expertise with each other, and to increase awareness and understanding among those who would otherwise have limited exposure to mesothelioma. The Canadian Mesothelioma Foundation is also undertaking to further the collaboration and develop the expertise of tertiary care specialists in Canada, such as oncologists, surgeons and radiation oncologists, who deal more extensively with mesothelioma. This entails funding clinical research in mesothelioma treatment strategies, and fostering the already existent expertise in this area within Canada.
